Roses, cake, champagne, chocolates: That’s just Karan’s invitation to his mother’s b'day bash

Trust Karan Johar to do it large and do it in style. The filmmaker and devoted son has been sparing no effort to make his mother Hiroo Johar’s 75th birthday bash truly memorable.
For starters, he has had customized invites prepared for the birthday brunch on Sunday. All his mother’s friends have received their monogrammed invitations for the special day, along with a bottle of champagne, cake, and chocolates. Karan has been personally inviting their guests to his mother’s special day.

More than 150 special guests will gather to toast Hiroo Johar at the celebration at a Bandra five-star. What’s more, their Bandra residence will also be in festive mode. Since Hiroo is extremely fond of flowers, her son will have both the venue and their residence decorated with different kinds of flowers on Sunday. Each invitation card was also sent out along with a bunch of Mrs Johar’s fave white roses.

The celebration on Sunday will see the likes of Waheeda Rehman, Neetu Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Rima Jain, Gauri Khan, Jaya Bachchan with daughter Shweta, Varun Dhawan’s mother, Karuna, Shobha and Ekta Kapoor, socialite Natasha Poonawala, among others have themselves a jolly good time.

The menu, reveals a source, will include the best of Chinese and Indian cuisine. What’s more, Karan also has a surprise planned for the cake-cutting ceremony and gifts galore. The filmmaker in him loves that dash of drama, don’t we know!

Karan is extremely close to his mother, whom he calls his ‘world’. When he informed the world about this birth of his twins last year, he had shared, “I have submitted to the fact that my children are my world and priority. My work, travels and social commitments would have to take a back seat and I am prepared for that. By the grace of God, I have the most caring and supportive mother who will be an integral part in the up-bringing of her grandchildren and of course, friends who are family.”

He even named his children after his parents – while his son is called Yash, after father Yash Johar, his daughter’s name is Roohi, which is an anagram of the name Hiroo.
