Superstar Salman Khan at the TiE Global Summit shared a quite a few stories in a candid conversation with the audiences. Amongst the many, one of the most interesting is the one we all would love to sit down and listen to, anytime. At the summit, Salman shared the story of how he came to known as the ultimate 'bhai'.
Talking about the whole comedy and tragedy behind him being tagged as 'bhai' he shares "Bhai connotation used to be a Dabanng kind of a connotation and it was a negative connotation to bhai. It is referred to someone from the underworld and stuff like that." Then he shared how it all began, "Now, Sohail calls me bhai. So all of Sohail's friends started calling me bhai." So far, it doesn't seem so bad.

Well, there's always another level up. That's what happened to Salman too. "And so it happens that even my seniors have started calling me bhai. And I feel like that's very bad. From Salman, Sallu, Salle, Sallu bhai to Bhai it has been quite a good journey." Be sure to sense the sarcasm coming up!
"But it also depends on who calls you that. Some people that you really like... and bhai... That does not sound good. And it started happening recently" after a long thoughtful pause he continued, "after I crossed 50." Now that says a lot! Even THE 'Salman Khan' has reservations about his age. But let's face it, age is after all just a number.

During the same summit, he shared another interesting and a really inspiring story about his work ethic and his idea of work-breaks. He says, “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,”.
Now, that's a person who can make you laugh and inspire at the same time. This should be enough of answer to all those who wonder what makes him such a big star.
