OMG Sanjay Bhansali cancelled the Padmaavat yacht party!

In a shocking development, the proposed yacht party to celebrate the success of Padmaavat has been cancelled!

Reason: director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has supposedly claimed that he will not be able to attend as he suffers from seasickness! You’d think the folks at Viacom 18 would have checked with the filmmaker when they were planning the venue aboard a luxury ship, right? But maybe it slipped their busy minds and now Bhansali is refusing to attend after all the planning has been put in place and even the invitations to VIP guests sent out!

As of now, the big party planned stands cancelled.

We can’t help feeling there is more to this than meets the eye… It is entirely possible that Bhansali felt left out from the entire planning of the success bash of his film. Egos get bruised so easily, don’t they!? Or then he probably just wants to chill with his nearest and dearest at home on his birthday – remember, he had also shared that he abhors parties and wasn’t even allowed to attend birthday parties as a child. Whatever it is, that grand splashy bash all were looking forward to, has sadly been scuttled.

The whopping success of Padmaavat which has surged past the Rs.275-crore mark at the box office had made a success party almost compulsory. It was decided to up the ante and hold the bash aboard an ocean liner, befitting the film’s extra-special and larger than life canvas. What’s more, as it also coincided with Bhansali’s 56th birthday, it was the perfect reason for a double celebration.

It had been reported that the team had chosen to give the usual five-star venues a miss and instead decided upon Ark Deck Bar, a floating restaurant with an open-air bar deck, a sit-down restaurant and private dining areas. The venue would offer stunning ocean views, while also keeping its celebrity passengers safely away from the probing cameras.

The guest list had featured at least 150 names, including other B-wood top stars. It was reported that the starry brigade would be ferried across to the Ark from the Sea Link jetty. The food was said to include European, Indian, Italian and pan-Asian cuisine.
Will the party go on, at another venue on land? They just might pull that off to ensure Bhansali attends!
