Manikarnika won't face issues, writer Vijayendra Prasad is positive

After Padmaavat, it felt like Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika would see the darkness when a Brahmin group from Rajasthan called 'Sarva Brahman Mahasabha' claimed that the movie misrepresents the facts. Following this, the makers of the film have come forward to address the issue. They have strongly denied any such allegations. The makers are even open to sharing the script of the film with this group to clear any misunderstandings.

The writer of famous movies like Baahubali, Magadheera and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, in an interview with a leading daily, mentioned, “No need to worry about it as I have portrayed her in the most respectable way. She is a warrior who fought against the British. She is my favourite woman leader. I have grown up reading about her. So, I will always portray her in an inspirational way.” He later added, “The film’s title is Manikarnika because it is her name! Her parents named her that because she was born in Kasi and the Manikarnika Ghat there is very famous. Even I named my daughter Manikarnika, so you now know how much I respect Rani Lakshmibai.”

After the writer, the film’s producer, Kamal Jain went ahead to state that, “As responsible filmmakers, we have taken utmost care while portraying Rani Lakshmi-bai’s character and have consulted historians and scholars. Rani Lakshmi Bai was a freedom fighter and one of the most respected leaders that our country has seen. She is a symbol of valour and the film’s story depicts the same.”

The makers of Manikarnika also said that history has not been distorted in any form in the film. The film is directed by famous Telugu director, Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi a.k.a Krish. Along with Kangana, it features Ankita Lokhande, Sonu Sood, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta.
