Hoping to see Ranbir’s mehndi-decorated hands at the Virushka reception!

Even though the rumours of a December wedding had been flying fast and thick, Anushka and Virat Kohli managed to take everyone by surprise with their secret wedding in Italy. And this includes the Bollywood inner circle, where not much manages to stay private!
Now we have Ranbir Kapoor, who happens to be a good friend of Anushka’s, sharing his surprise at the couple’s surprise wedding. During the course of a Twitter chat, the actor, who has worked with Anushka in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and even called each other best friends, has revealed that he felt sad because he had no idea about Virushka's marriage. He is also happy for Anushka though, he says, as he has never seen her so happy and beautiful.

“I felt sad because I had no idea about it but I felt happy because I’ve never seen her so happy and beautiful,” reads his first tweet, when asked for his reaction on the Virushka wedding. And then his next is hilarious – “I was waiting to attend with Mehendi on my hands but they didn't call me.”

As to his supposed mehndi-decorated hands, Ranbir will get the chance to show them off at Virushka’s Mumbai reception on December 26. Invitations have gone out well in advance to the couple’s reception, which will be held at St. Regis, Lower Parel, the night after Christmas.

The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil pair had buddied up during the shooting of this Karan Johar film, but the seeds of friendship had been sown during their Anurag Kashyap directorial, Bombay Velvet. Unfortunately for Ranbir, he continued to face flak for the film’s debacle; something the lead actress Anushka didn’t. Hurt about this, Sharma had risen to Ranbir’s defence saying, “What happened to him was unfair. He is one of the best actors we have today. But it’s also because Bombay Velvet was Johnny’s film more than Rosie’s. I would have been held solely responsible if NH10 had flopped, not because I produced it, but because the film was riding on my shoulders. But, he continues to be targeted also because of the other films he did. I was relatively less affected because I had successful films before and after Bombay Velvet.”
