Did mama Sridevi also shoot her scenes in Dhadak? We’d love to think so!

We are hearting the new images fresh off the sets of Dhadak. There’s one shared by Dharma on Instagram, which shows the lead pair, their backs facing the camera, as they sit opposite a lake, the clapperboard of their new film, Dhadak nestled between them. No, it isn’t difficult at all to “Guess who?!” – newbies Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar are pretty much recognizable even from the rear.

Another image from the sets was shared by costume designer, Manish Malhotra, in which director Shashank Khaitan is seen “trying to pose as a strict director and the two young actors pretending to be scared…”

The next one, again from Manish, shows Janhvi Kapoor cozying up to mom Sri in matching shawls with Kashmiri thread-work to beat the early morning nip in the Udaipur air. Clearly, this protective mommy couldn’t bear to let her li’l girl go face the cameras alone for the first time! Or was there more to her appearance on the set in Udaipur…?

Not long ago, rumours were rife that the senior actress would be making a special appearance in the Karan Johar production. She would allegedly be playing mother onscreen to her real-life daughter Janhvi, in a brief but important role. Buzz had it that ‘the woman had to look graceful, dignified and be able to express her love for her rebellious daughter, even as she stood up against the father who was dead against his daughter marrying a boy from a socio-economically backward section’.

While a confirmation has yet to come in, Sri’s presence in the film would absolutely add that emotional edge to the plot. We do hope it is a yes!

The basic premise of Dhadak, the director had revealed, is the differences in caste, honour killing and what it means to survive in that world. “I feel that is the conflict that is alive all across India, you will hear stories like that,” he had vouched.
