Shree Narayan Singh denies heroine has been selected for woman-centric film

It’s just been two days since Toilet: Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh and KriArj Entertainment announced their collaboration on a women-centric film titled Jasmine (whose subject is reportedly a leased womb) and the buzz already is that they have approached Anushka Sharma for the role.

However, there appears to be no substance to that rumour. An irritated Shree Narayan Singh snapped when asked for a confirmation about Anushka in Jasmine, “There is absolutely no truth to this news. Anushka has not even been approached for this film. We are yet to finalize the director and only then will we start work on the casting. I request the media to refrain from such baseless speculation.”

Earlier, Shree Narayan Singh had said, “I’m happy to collaborate with KriArj Entertainment once again. I have always wanted to work on a women-centric film and finally, I am able to do so. As a filmmaker, it’s a pleasure working with a dream producer who always puts the film first and understands everything that goes into making a memorable film. Together, we hope to make another memorable film like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha that reaches a wide audience across the country.”

Shree Narayan Singh also explained the basic theme of the story. “Jasmine is the journey of a girl into motherhood, of eternal love between a mother and a child. The film revolves around the concept of motherhood – the nine months of pregnancy, nine days of Navratri. Based on surrogacy, the film requires a strong performance by the leading lady.”
Jasmine will reportedly be helmed by a new director and has been scripted by the Toilet: Ek Prem Katha writer duo Siddharth-Garima. The filmmakers hope that the film will go on the floors in 2018.

Currently, Shree Narayan Singh is busy prepping for his next venture with Shahid Kapoor titled Batti Gul Meter Chalu which is again a socially relevant film based on the electricity scam in the country. He will begin shooting for it in January in Uttarakhand and will release the film in August 2018.
