“I can’t have a huge family”: Rani’s revelations are touching

Marriage and motherhood and now a return to the silver screen with Hichki, Rani Mukerji evidently has it all. What’s more as wife of one of B-town’s top producers, Aditya Chopra, she must wield considerable power in filmmaking as well, right? Wrong, if you go by what Rani claims. The actress, who married the YashRaj scion in the year 2014 and welcomed baby girl Adira in 2015, will let you know that she does not discuss work with her husband at all. “I don't tell him to cast me in films, I can only tell him when do we make our next baby,” she chuckles. “My conversation with Adi is all about love and Adira. I can't have a huge family as I think I have missed the bus. I should have started a long time ago. But I can always try for a second child.” That is one charmingly personal disclosure and we can’t help wonder how the extremely private Aditya Chopra will take it!

Rani is equally forthright discussing the tough times she underwent in her early days. “I wouldn't say I had a soft landing. In the film industry, you get where you get because of your talent and merit. We have to sweat it out and work in all kinds of environment and wait for the audience to accept you or not accept you. You may be the brother, sister or daughter of a popular actor or director, and still not be accepted. When I got into films, my dad wasn't a very successful producer or director,” she points out, adding that the nepotism debate is baseless, as people from a non-film background have also come and made it big in Bollywood.

Right now, she is enjoying the new wave in the film industry that set in, in the last couple of decades. “It’s amazing how cinema has changed in so many different ways. We are going through a wonderful time wherein there is a lovely mix,” she adds. Here’s looking forward to seeing more of this brilliant actress onscreen – whether Adi Chopra decides to cast her or not!
