We are still gasping at fearless Sonam’s “Moron” comment!

There was humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, addressing students at an event at the Jawaharlal Nehru University. He probably thought he was being caring, considerate and correct when counselling a student who asked how he should handle the way his friends and family treated him for his sexual orientation.

Sri Sri, as he is popularly called, had responded, “You don't think you are sick or something is wrong with you. If you stand up, nobody can insult you, but...if you feel bad about yourself, nobody can make you feel better… This is your tendency now...know that this tendency is not a permanent thing. It may change. I've seen many men who were gay later turn into heterosexuals, and there are those who are normal, who are called straight people, end up being gay later in life.” He might have smiled a beatific smile shortly after that – but not for long!

No godman, no matter how powerful, could have predicted that his advice would soon be blasted to smithereens by a straight-talking lass, named Sonam Kapoor!

The Veere Di Wedding stunner lost no time in making her opinion on the matter absolutely clear. Dubbing him a “moron,” she went on to slam the spiritual leader for his “irresponsible” comments. “Homosexuality is not a ‘tendency’ it’s something you are born as and is absolutely NORMAL. To tell someone you can change is irresponsible,”

she blasted, followed by “???????? get with the program!!!” and ending with, “WTF is wrong with god men, if you want to learn something about Hinduism and culture it’s better to follow @HindolSengupta & @devduttmyth.” Triple ouch for the godman and his supporters, there!

Alia Bhatt soon entered the fray, sharing Sonam's tweet with the comment, “OMG kinda moment!” on Twitter.

Sonam is already pretty much the poster girl, for her open support of the LGBT community. She had even attended the inaugural event of the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival last May, where she had spoken up in defence of gay rights, saying “It’s a basic human right. It’s not about lesbian, gay, male, female or transsexual. It’s about being able to be who you want to be and being somebody who is just themselves. I have advocated that from the beginning of my career.”

Free-speaking, fashionable, fearless… we are running out of reasons why we heart Ms. Kapoor!
