For a book that is titled, ‘An Ordinary Life: A Memoir’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s autobiography is stirring up an extraordinary amount of heat and dust! His revelations about the women he loved, complete with names, has not gone down well with the concerned ladies, in particular his Miss Lovely co-star, Niharika Singh.

She has lashed out at Nawaz’s revelations about their affair, although to her credit, she hasn’t denied it completely. Declaring that she and Nawaz had a brief relationship during the making of Miss Lovely that lasted less than a few months, she has gone on to ridicule his further revelations. “When he paints me as a woman in fur enticing him into her bedroom with candles, or desperately calling him and mailing other women on his behalf, I can only laugh,” she lashed out. She puts it down to a desperate attempt to sell his book, for which, she claims, he appears to be willing to exploit and disrespect a woman. She states that Nawaz has chosen to fabricate stories and manipulate a fleeting relationship. What further angers her is that none of what he has written has been with her knowledge or consent. Nawaz’s brilliant acting skills were not confined to the screen, she points out, and it was that very aspect of Nawaz’s character that had caused her to end their relationship in the first place. “Still, I wish him well,” she ends.

That must come as something of a relief to Nawaz, who has been making statements that he could even be beaten up for his revelations in his book! However, he defends his decision to name names, claiming that it is important to tell the truth, warts and all, or else it is better not to write at all.

The publishing house which commissioned his memoirs must definitely be thrilled with the actor’s approach. In the midst of lacklustre autobiographies by the likes of Rishi Kapoor and Hema Malini, here’s one that should have the publishers laughing all the way to the bank!
