When somebody invited Rajkummar Rao to shake a leg this evening on Farah Khan’s reality show Lip Sing Battle, he must have heard wrong. For Rajkummar enthusiastically proceeded to break a leg instead while prancing around wildly at Yash Raj Studios with his lovely Bareilly Ki Barfi co-star Kriti Sanon. Sources say Rajkummar was trying to imitate Akshay Kumar and match the Khiladi’s energetic gyrations in the foot-tapping number Chinta Ta Chita Chita from Rowdy Rathore.

What happened was disaster. He lost his balance when leaping from a height and had a mighty fall. Finding Rajkummar writhing in pain and not laughing at himself for having two left feet and attempting to dance, the shooting was stopped and the Newton actor was rushed to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital nearby. Doctors in the Emergency Ward attending on him, found Rajkummar had fractured his ankle. He will have to undergo surgery tomorrow.

The actor, who preferred not to get admitted at the hospital tonight for tomorrow’s surgery, went home to rest instead. From there, tongue firmly in cheek, he took to Instagram to address his fans and posted a picture with Farah Khan and this message: “Everyone was asking me to break a leg specially @farahkhankunder and see I've literally done that. 2 fractures, 1 surgery but not that bad. Got to learn some amazing dance moves. Thank you team #LipSingBattle and my apologies @kritisanon couldn't shoot today. Apologies everyone couldn't finish it today but very soon hopefully."

The ace Bollywood director and choreographer has been rocking television with Lip Sing Battle. She recently had Shah Rukh Khan, Sania Mirza and Sushant Singh Rajput as her guests. They all performed and that episode went off without incident. Rajkummar, meanwhile, is most likely to have thrown the schedule of Fanney Khan into jeopardy with this accident. He will be laid up for quite a while and this film, in which he co-stars with Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is already on the floor. The actor’s next release is Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana on November 10.
