A star’s heyday is supposed to be the time when s/he was young and madly popular. Rishi Kapoor might have been the heartthrob in his youth, with women openly adoring his chocolatey lover boy persona. We much prefer the Rishi Kapoor we see now, older and so much deeper.

The first look of his Mulq is finally out, and the actor took to Twitter to share his look from the film. “For all my fans my first look of the film “Mulq”. Voice of tomorrow!’’ he wrote, and expectations have gone through the roof from this social thriller based on true life events.
This Anubhav Sinha directorial goes on the floors this month, and also stars Neena Gupta as Rishi’s wife, and Taapsee Pannu as his daughter. Prateik Babbar and Rajat Kapur also play key roles in the film.

The cast is raring to go, as a schedule in Benaras and Lucknow beckons. Rishi himself is looking forward to shooting a film in the drama genre, which he hasn’t done in a long time. “When Anubhav narrated the film to me, I loved the concept of the film. Shooting in Benaras and Lucknow will be an added bonus since I have heard such great stories about the cities.”

Neena Gupta, who has begun prepping for her role, says candidly that she met Anubhav at a time when she was desperately seeking quality work. “It was a really thoughtful gesture on his part to reach out to me at a time when I was undergoing this inner turmoil,” she says, clearly moved. She calls Mulk a phenomenal film and reveals she is excited to be a part of this experimental film.

Written and produced by Mushtaq Shiekh, the film revolves around the story of a joint family who hails from a small town in India, who are on a mission to reclaim their honour which has been lost after a controversy.
