Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif are all set to come together – but not for a film. Bollywood’s good-looking duo, and certainly one of its most popular and successful on screen, is attending a special event this evening for a cause which is close to Akshay’s heart. It’s at the IX Akshay Kumar Invitational Kudo Tournament which will conclude at the Andheri Sports Complex where Kat will join her co-star from super hit films like Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng.
Akshay has always been a champion of any form of self-defense which empowers the youth to stand up for themselves. The open martial arts tournament, conducted successfully over the last nine years that has attracted over 5,000 participants and requires 150-plus officials and some 200 volunteers, has been an extension to that cause. It is arguably the world’s biggest Kudo tournament. Kudo is a Japanese full contact fighting sport with protective clothing and gear that comes as close to real fighting as is possible.
Akshay and Kat ruled the box office in the early 2000s with a string of hit films. However, owing to different professional commitments, fans have of both actors have not been able to see Akshay and Katrina together in the last seven years. Their last film was Tees Maar Khan in 2010. Rumours were rife that due to her meteoric rise Kat only wanted to work opposite younger heroes and had declined films with Akshay. But he squashed these reports when he welcomed her on Instagram in the funniest way possible. He shared a throwback picture with the leggy lass and captioned it, “Before I drop her on her head please welcome the last member of Bollywood to join Instagram. The Sensational Katrina Kaif @katrinakaif! Show her some love coz love is all she needs.”

Katrina has always maintained that it is Akshay with whom she makes the best pair. In an interview dated back to 2015, Kat candidly confessed, “I think Akshay and I make the best pair ever! It may be politically incorrect to say this, but it’s a fact! We have given some big hits together. I would love to do another great film with him.” If not a film yet, the pairing of this delightful jodi even for an evening sounds good. They are not participating in the Kudo but there’s no denying that Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif make a kick-ass pair!
