- Raj Thackeray, who generally makes news for violent threats, let his talented sketching pen do the talking. His series of six caricatures detailing Bachchan’s journey in films from 1970 to 2017, might just find pride of place on the walls of Jalsa, firmly putting to rest the frisson of animosity that had once crackled between the performing artiste and the politician.

So, yes, although the family, including children and grandchildren, was on a pristine beach in gorgeous Maldives, Abhishek, Shweta and Aishwarya made sure there were phatakas on the sands as they rang in Pa’s 75th birthday. A huge cake, a midnight bash by the sea, and love and cheer galore. But that’s not where it ends. The family will stay on at the resort – yes, it is the same luxury resort they had escaped to for Abhishek’s birthday last year - for the next four days. On the anvil is a yacht party and plenty of sun, surf, jet skiing and sailing.
