Rohit promises ‘old school’  promo for Golmaal Again

The trailer of Rohit Shetty’s Diwali release, the much-anticipated Golmaal Again, will release on September 22 without the fanfare associated with big ticket Bollywood films.
Rohit is not in favour of promoting his film this way. Sources say the film is sorted out already and does not need any hype to create a buzz over its release. Says Rohit, “The film is looking very exciting and the promo has come out really well.  The trailer will make you fall off your seat!”

According to the director of one of Bollywood’s most popular and successful franchises which made its entry in 2006, this episode of the Golmaal series is different from its predecessors. “That’s what I am happy about,” he admits. It’s being described as a comedy horror. But Rohit says, “No, it’s not on those lines. I can’t tell you more because it will spoil the effect of the trailer.”

This time Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade will be joined by Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, and Neil Nitin Mukesh. With such a star cast, you might have expected Golmaal Again to have a kick-ass trailer launch. But Rohit denied any such plan.
“We are not planning anything grand for the trailer. No going overboard with the promotions,” says Rohit, adding, “I want to keep it basic and we will be promoting Golmaal Again only for a month. It will be an old-school type of promotion.”

Bollywood is known to go overboard with film promotions. For Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra One and Jab Harry Met Sejal, the actor spent lakhs on the promotions, but in the end, the films tanked.

Rohit, whose super-hits include Singham and Bol Bachchan, feels that this practice should be stopped. “We should not put the burden of publicity on the film or the director,” says Rohit.  He does not mind being the pioneer of this cost-cutting practice and hopes other filmmakers will follow his lead.
