Kangana Ranaut is all over the news, not only because of her film Simran which is up for release but for her bold and blunt statements made on her ex- Hrithik Roshan. She has always been a rebel with her work this is because this young Himalayan beauty has a give-a-damn attitude, not towards her work but towards the people who try to bring her down.

Just as she sits down Kangana says, “I love Hansal Mehta's films, he has a way of portraying his characters and this is the exact reason why I choose Simran,” she adds, “Simran is a story of a very simple girl who is called Praful Patel and how she ends up being called Simran is for you to find out in the film.” Not only does Kangana speaks about her next but also about how she tackles her failure and what keeps her going despite criticism.

You entered the industry in 2006 and went on to work in some of the great movies but do you still feel that you are an outsider in the Bollywood industry?

I am not an outsider anymore, I am very much part of the film industry; I am one of the leading face of Indian cinema, done significant work. I got three National Awards for my films; some of my films have broken box-office records. So I am somebody who is very integral part of the industry in this journey so far.

You tasted success with most of your films, but at the same time failures how do you tackle failures?

Actually, I learned a lot from the failure of Rangoon, I was disturbed and disappointed at the same time. I had a lot of expectation from the film, but then it has also got me a reality check. Frankly speaking, what I set out to achieve when I left my house, I have accomplished more than that. Whatever I get beyond this is an added bonus for me, I will always be remembered as the leading faces of Indian cinema, and after this nothing matters. Sometimes you think this is the worst that can happen to you, Rangoon’s failure was my worst fears come true. Once this has happened, you become fearless and nothing worse can happen after this. When you already so down, nothing else can bring you down.

It is said that it is lonely at the top, have you ever felt that?

When you have family and close friends in your life with whom you can share your feelings, one does not feel lonely.  I am lucky that I have those people in my life

Do you regret rejecting Salman Khan’s Sultan which went on to become a blockbuster?

See, I don’t regret anything because even my films have done good business. There are many films that I said no to and which have gone to do good business. When you get a film like Sultan you already know that the film will be doing well at the box-office, it’s not a Queen which suddenly go on to do good business, so you mentally prepared for that.

Does that mean you don't regret anything in life?

I am right now in a very beautiful phase of my life and so I don’t have any such regrets. Every human wants to have an easy life but no one gets an easy life. I have seen too many ups and downs but that does not upset me anymore.

Are you an emotional person?

I am very sensitive but I have got stronger over the years. When life makes you face some of the most difficult things, you eventually learn to get tough and ready to take on life with a smile.

 A lot has been spoken on Feminism what is your idea about it?

Feminism is equality. It’s not a concept, it’s compensation. There should be no feminism in a healthy society. It’s a sick society and feminism is medicine to this. We should be free of feminism like, we are polio free (laughs).

 How do you look back at your journey in films?

Gangster was a very important film in my life. My life and journey have changed because of it. It was a magic moment for me and I will always cherish this.
