Actor Yami Gautam was the chosen one to close the show for Shyamal & Bhumika at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week at Jio World Centre. She looked good in a pastel, paneled, flared lehenga, embellished with floral motifs and teamed with a shimmering, corset choli. The tulle dupatta with a sparkling edge completed the ethereal look of this beautiful bridal wear creation.
Called Blooms of Paradise, this collection was a celebration of the designer duo’s globe-trotting muse, using a poetic blend of hand-embroidered masterpieces, designed using age-old craft techniques in an unusual mix of colours and silhouettes. The line was inspired from nature, our history and traditions, ancient architecture, splendour of the royal courts, museums, rare private collectors and antique markets.
Elegant embellishments added to the allure. The hues on view included English rose pink, muted ivory, deep powder blue, emerald, dusty mint, orchid, pearl, cream, olive, sage, sky grey and midnight blue.
While the women’s wear was wondrous, the menswear, too, was flamboyant and stylish with heavily embroidered cropped kurtas with circular hemlines, along with jackets, double-breasted bundies and draped styles.
