India Couture Week 2022: Traipsing through The Road Less Travelled with Anju Modi

Perhaps for the first time, one saw black rocks strewn on the ramp or pine trees all around. Well, you were embarking on The Road Less Travelled, as Anju Modi called her collection at India Couture Week 2022, presented by FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) in association with Lotus Make-up.

It was an ode to Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh as you saw images on the screen behind that transported you to a timeless and vintage setting, so in tune with the designer’s creations.

Anju Modi draws inspiration from nuanced elements of architecture, poetry, mythology and literature with each ensemble a celebration of India’s cultural history and tribute to modern feminism.

In this showcase presented by Shri Paramani Jewells, you sensed the revival of traditional crafts and textiles in the weaving, vegetable dyeing, block printing and traditional embroidery.

It is said that the collection is a conversation the designer had with her soul, while taking a stroll through beautiful valleys and the mightiest of mountains.

Aditi Rao Hydari was the fitting showstopper in an antique turmeric colour vegetable-dyed silk lehenga with vintage era embroidered patterns.
