The Day 5 of the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive kickstarted on a glamorous note and lived up to the expectations. We witnessed some mesmerizing collections which hit us right in the feels.
RAJDEEP RANAWAT
Inspired by Victorian vintage costumes and French renaissance movies, Rajdeep Ranawat’s “Sindh” collection was a fantasy of colours, fabrics, designs and glamour at Lakmé Fashion Week. Bringing the beauty of the past on the ramp, Rajdeep had the Bandhani of Rajasthan and the gorgeous weaves of Baluchistan that infused his collection to life on the runway. The prints were a mélange of hues so striking that when studded with Swarovski crystals with lacquer finish the ensembles were a visual treat for the senses.
Mixing the colours and prints in an amazing manner, the designer opened the show with a black/white, cropped pants, shirt and soft robe followed by a mirror work short jacket over dhoti pants, shararas and asymmetrical kurta. Wide belts looked amazing for dresses over pants, while the wrap dhoti with a mirror work blouse, the bralette, a soft printed empire line maxi and the shararas with kurti, robe or embellished belt, had great best-selling possibilities.

Ranawat showcased just two men’s wear – Bundi/kurta with slim pants, which matched the colours prints and shimmer of the theme.
The “Sindh” collection was aimed at men and women who are urban nomads but at the same time revel in the beauty of luxury.
SVA BY SONAM AND PARAS
This festive season the SVA label by Sonam and Paras Modi made a strong but ultra-glam fashion statement with their collection “Rani SVA”. The SVA look brought modern royalty to the wardrobes of the 21st century Maharanis. There were intensely structured silhouettes that were created with metallic surfaces interwoven into geometric textiles. The hand embroidery was a lush and ornate offering that added immense luxury to the ensembles.
The power suits and stunning creations gradually moved to the traditional saris, which were intricately embellished. Showcasing collections in red, dusty green and black with a hint of dark blue the designing duo displayed a festive line that will be coveted by fashionistas. The reds had a stunning, crinkled palazzo with a jacket over a shimmering top; while the lehengas, jackets, bustiers and blouses with bias round collars were definitely fashion attractions on the ramp. The grey dazzling gown, long-sleeved blouse with lehenga and another top with a Harlequin collar gave the traditional fashion duo a New Age image.
For the final black look, there was a profusion of lehengas starting with an arresting ombré sari, striped asymmetric kurtas and a stylish asymmetric midi with a shimmering gold jacket. The chevron, striped lehenga and blouse with shawl sleeves, the peplum jackets and the bikini blouse with corset belt and lehenga gave ethnic wear an Indo-west touch.
While women’s wear was the focal point of the show, SVA added some sherwanis, kurtas, shaded Bundi, striped kurta, and a Bundi and kurta combo in rich silks for men that will be great additions to the wardrobes of the stylish male.
Ending the dazzling show was supermodel Diva Dhawan, who glided on the ramp in a black, plunging neckline tiny choli and lehenga with a corset style, checked belt.
