Lakme Fashion Week 2018 W/F: KVIC presents Khadi goes chic

What was once considered a simple fabric, Khadi, also known as the fabric of freedom, was given a chic and glamorous twist at Lakme Fashion Week 2018 Winter/Festive Edition. The grand Khandi showcase by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) collaborated with Lakme Fashion Week to present Sustainable Fashion Day with four stunning designers’ collections.

KVIC presents Buna by Pallavi Shantam's collection, ‘Time Whisperer’. The clothing is rooted in the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi, beauty that comes from imperfections, drawing a parallel with Khadi, while block prints of delicate flora with shadowy placements express the aspect of transience

Then there was a Jewellyn Alvares collection. A line that showcased three directions rolled into cohesion with tunics, pants, shirts, jackets, and coats. All fashioned from khadi fabrics in different textures, count and weight.

Designer Lars Andersson showed a contemporary knitwear collection, that exudes luxury both aesthetically and tactilely. Employing the age-old skill of hand knitting, his unique collections are constructed from only the finest Italian and Japanese yarns.
