I was asked to please people in a certain way: Vivek Dahiya opens up about his struggling days

Television actor Vivek Dahiya considers wife Divyanka Tripathi as his lucky mascot. Recently, the actor confessed that he started climbing the success ladder rapidly after marriage. He also spoke about his struggling days, casting couch and how his father also feels that Divyanka is quite lucky for him.

Vivek said, “I definitely consider Divyanka as my lucky charm. In fact, my father has said a lot of times that she is absolutely lucky for me. He had told me earlier that when you will have your lady by your side and she's there permanently to stay, the way the universe will work for you suddenly, will be surprising. This thing stayed with me and I was waiting to see what happens. And I couldn't believe it when Kavach happened to me soon after marriage. I was like Yes, the lady luck thing is working. Divyanka is completely my lucky mascot.”

Talking about his struggle period, he said, “I literally managed to overcome a lot of issues in the beginning while auditioning, especially with scripts. Before landing my first job I must have auditioned around 300-400 times. I then got shortlisted and then was on board for a project. I was really happy and on cloud nine. I immediately called up my father who was sceptical because till then as I wasn't shortlisted anywhere. The amount was not major but bagging a project after so long in itself was a big thing for me. That was just the beginning.”

Vivek also revealed that more than one co-coordinator told him that he would find it very difficult to survive in the industry as he did not come from a filmy family. "So, he initially suggested I should rather pay money to people to get myself a full-fledged role in a show. When I refused to oblige to the monetary way out, he suggested me of the next alternative that was the casting couch where I would have to please people in a certain way. I was told "tumhare joote ghiss jayenge lekin tumhe kaam nahi milega. Kuch nahi hoga." I told him mere paas bohot saare joote hai and ek nahi toh dusra pehen loonga but I will go by the fair and right means.”

On the work front, Vivek has been part of shows including Ye Hai Mohabbatein, Kavach…Kali Shaktiyon Se, Qayamat Ki Raat and few more.
