Actress Disha Vakani, popularly known as Dayaben of the popular sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will not return to the show and is likely to be replaced by a new actress. The same has been confirmed by producer Asit Modi.

In a statement, Asit said, “There are women who take maternity breaks and then resume work. We have given Disha leave and now we cannot wait more so will have to start looking for a new Dayaben. We will have to replace her, for the audience who have waiting for Daya’s return. And as it’s said, the show must go on.”

Disha tied the knot with Mumbai-based chartered accountant Mayur Padia in November 2015. She delivered a baby girl on November 30, 2017, and since then, there is no news of her return in the show. She has been extending her maternity leave from last one year since she wanted to spend more time with her new-born daughter. Apparently, she has still not decided if she wants to return to work.

Few reports also suggest that Disha’s husband is not keen on her getting back to work. Reportedly, he demanded a huge amount from the makers if Disha was to get back on the show. However, neither the actress nor the producer confirmed the news.

Now only time will tell who will step into the shoes of Disha to play the popular character of Dayaben in the show.
