Sunil Grover Birthday: A look at the actor’s acting journey through best scenes

Popular comedian and actor Sunil Grover turned 41 today. The actor/comedian’s perfect imitation of Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and many other popular actors have made him a household name today. Sunil was discovered by ace actor-director Jaspal Bhatti while he was pursuing his masters in theatre from Punjab. Sunil’s Shah Rukh avatar in shows like Kya Aap Panchvi Champu Se Fail Hai?, Kaun Banega Champu, Ruk Ruk Khan got him noticed.

However, his career skyrocketed after joining hands with Kapil Sharma on his popular shows The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Nights With Kapil. He played Gutthi and Dr. Mashoor Gulati in the show. After, the show’s success there was no stopping Sunil who is all geared up with his forthcoming films in which he has pivotal roles.

Post a fallout with Kapil and taking a break from television, Sunil has been focusing on his Bollywood career and left the show. However, his characters Gutthi and Dr. Mashoor Gulati are so famous and well-loved that he often guest stars in reality shows. However, like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sunil appeared in many films over the years in supporting roles.

Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha

The Ajay Devgn-Kajol starrer had Sunil play a barber in a very funny scene where he shaves off Ajay’s moustache.

Legend of Bhagat Singh

Sunil teamed up with Ajay once again in his film Legend of Bhagat Singh which fetched the latter a National Award. Sunil’s attempt at translating Hindi expletives in English was hilariously funny.

Ghajini

Sunil managed to shine in a film with Aamir Khan as well. He had a cameo role as Sampat in the film, the simple and ordinary actor friend of Asin. In this scene, he tries his hand at mimicking Aamir’s character of the business tycoon Sanjay Singhania with no success.

Heropanti

Sunil appeared for only one scene in the Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon film, but he managed to outshine everyone in the scene. His dialogue delivery and comic timing were so on the point that it became one of the best scenes of the film.

Baaghi

Sunil played the role of Shraddha Kapoor in this film and he aced this one too. His look was similar to his character of Dr. Mashoor Gulati.

Sunil got a well-defined and longer role in Akshay Kumar’s film Gabbar is Back. Playing constable Sadhuram, Sunil manages to crack the case and find out Akshay’s secret vigilante avatar.

Coffee with D was probably the first main lead role for Sunil. The film is a hilarious take on India’s favourite journalist Arnab Goswami and his exclusive interview with the dreaded Don Dawood Ibrahim.

In Comedy Nights With Kapil Sunil played the role of Gutthi, Kapil’s father-in-law, and various other characters. His performance in every episode received a ton of applause and he was one of the highlights of the show.

The Kapil Sharma Show

In The Kapil Sharma Show, Sunil played the role of Dr. Mashoor Gulati and also impersonated various characters including the popular Rinku Bhabhi. His performance was so loved that after his exit from the show the series lost its TRP and eventually was discontinued.

Now, Sunil is looking forward to his upcoming films Salman Khan’s Bharat and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Patakha. Both the films will have Sunil in integral and totally different roles.
