Kapil Sharma’s show 'Family Time With Kapil' stalled, channel pulls the plug

Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma had made a comeback to the small screen with a game show called Family Time With Kapil on March 25, 2018, amid much fanfare and expectations. However, after only two episodes the channel has decided to stall the show. Although it is not clear yet for how long the popular comedian will be off air but the cast and crew of the show has been told that the shooting will not resume anytime soon. Apparently, Kapil’s irate behaviour, his absence from the shoot, his mental state and fallout with the producers of the show are the reasons stated for the show’s discontinuation.

The first two episodes of the show Family Time was shot with Ajay Devgn, Abhay Deol and Patralekhaa. Meanwhile, Nehaa Pendse, Kapil’s co-host on the show has taken up two other new shows. She said, “Yes, I have signed Partners on SAB TV and Entertainment Ki Raat Season 2 on Colors. People assume I have left the show but that is not true. I am willing to continue with Kapil’s show but I’m clueless about when the shoot would resume. We haven’t shot any new episodes in the last couple of days. Let’s see how it goes.”

According to a source producers, Hemant Ruprell and Ranjit Thakur are planning to discontinue the show. The source was quoted as saying, “Producers Hemant Ruprell and Ranjit Thakur, plan to discontinue their association with the show but the set hasn’t been dismantled yet. Sony channel plans to wait for a few weeks and see how things pan out before taking the final call.”

A source close to the channel informed PeepingMoon.com, “The channel tried their best to reach Kapil for the shoot. So far, they haven’t shot a single episode post the Rani Mukherji shoot got cancelled. Obviously, they don’t have a bank episode which can be aired in the absence of Kapil Sharma. And so, they have decided to pull off the show. Kapil has switched off his phone; in fact, the channel people also went to his house in Mumbai to talk to him. Unfortunately, all their efforts were in vain. Kapil is not reachable at all. And so, the channel has decided to return the money to the sponsors. The final announcement is yet to be made.”

Last year, The Kapil Sharma Show was pulled off-air in September when he absconded from shoots leaving Bollywood celebrities miffed and fuming. The trouble started when Sunil Grover, along with Ali Asgar quit the show after a fight with Kapil on a flight. The channel resumed their association with the comedian after paying a strict warning to him but looks like things have gone haywire once again.
