Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to be banned?

The makers of Sab TV's popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah seem to have opened a can of worms. The Sikh community has asked for an immediate ban on the show.
Apparently, in few of the episodes telecasted last week, one of the prime character of TMKOC, Roshan Sodhi, a Sikh was shown enacting the holy saint Guru Gobind Singh. This did not go down well with the Sikh community as they believe that no one can or should ever depict or enact the divine soul for any entertainment purpose.
In a statement to the media, SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar said the serial had hurt the community by depicting a living character of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, which was "against the Sikh tenets".
"No actor or any character can equate himself with the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. Such an act is unpardonable," he said.
Following that, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on September 16, demanded an immediate ban on the TV serial, alleging it of hurting the sentiments of Sikh community by portraying a series of blasphemous acts.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the top-rated shows on Indian Television currently. The show that began in 2007, is currently in its 10th year. Keeping the vamps, villains and saas-bahu saga away, TMKOC is definitely a light-hearted show suitable for family audience. It revolves around the lives of people of different religions staying together like one big family probably straight out from a 'Bharjatya ' movie.
