Veteran actress Rita Bhaduri passes away at the age of 62

Veteran television and film actress Rita Bhaduri passed away today in the wee hours of the morning. PeepingMoon had earlier reported that she was admitted at a hospital in Mumbai and was in the ICU for the past 10 days. She was 62 years old. Bhaduri has appeared as supporting actress in various Bollywood films during the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. The news of her death was confirmed by actor Shishir Sharma on Facebook.

The funeral rites of the late actress will be held on July 17, Tuesday at 12 noon at the Cremation Ground, Parsi Wada Road, Parshiwada, Chakala. The actress was suffering from a kidney ailment and had to go for dialysis every alternate day. She was currently seen playing the role of the grandmother in the serial Nimki Mukhiya. She was also best known for her performance in Govinda and Karisma Kapoor film Hero No.1. Bhaduri also worked in the immensely popular serial Amaanat and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.

Bhaduri is most known for films like Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979) a Rajshri Productions film and Raja (1995) for which she received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She had a supporting role as Julie's best friend in the hit film Julie, where the song Yeh Ratien Nayi Purani was picturized on her. Along with actress Zarina Wahab, Bhaduri passed from the 1973 batch of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.

Bhaduri was also associated with the Gujarati Film industry. Although she was not of Gujarati origin she became one of the most prolific actresses in the Gujarati industry. Bhaduri also played the female lead opposite Kamal Haasan in the film Kanyakumari that was released in 1974. It was a Malayalam language film written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair and K. S. Sethumadhavan.

Veteran actor and Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor also expressed his sadness on the demise of Bhaduri. He took to Twitter to express his grief.

Bhaduri's demise is a huge loss for the Indian television and film industry. May her soul rest in peace.
