Audiences were spoiled for choice on Friday, June 3 as not one but three big films released on the box office, and that too catering to different target audience with different genre at their core. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar’s Samrat Prithviraj, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and Suriya’s Vikram and Adivi Sesh, Saiee Manjrekar and Sobhita Dhulipala’s Major released at the box office.
Akshay and Manushi’s Samrat Prithviraj had a slow start but gathered momentum towards the evening on Day 1 at the box office. The film is directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi of Chankaya serial and Pinjar fame and is the first historical produced by YRF. The film is expected to grow in strength on Day 2 and Day 3 for a strong weekend. It garnered Rs 10.70 crore on Day 1 of its release. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood.

On the other hand, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram is reportedly going great guns at the box office as the film’s advance booking had already raked in a lot of moolah. Going by the latest box office predictions, Vikram might just cross the Rs 100 crore mark in a few days that too just in Tamil Nadu. The film is also doing fantastically well at global box office. Written and directed by Lokesh Kangaraj, Vikram is an action entertainer produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. The dialogues are written by Rathna Kumar and Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film also stars Kalidas Jayaram, Narain and Arjun Das in supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander composed music for the film.

Adivi Sesh’s Major has got a good opening for the actor and Thursday previews suggested that the film will open to over a Rs 2 crore collection at the box office. The film opened stupendously well in Andhra Pradesh. Major is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and is written by Adivi Sesh. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Revathi and Murali Sharma in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced by Sony Pictures International Productions, G Mahesh Babu Entertainment and A+S Movies. Major was released in Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is rock steady at the box office. Despite multiple releases the film is all set to cruise past Rs 150 crore in its third week. It has garner Rs 144.56 crore already.
