Box Office: Thugs Of Hindostan flops; Badhaai Ho still going strong

Aamir Khan’s new film Thugs Of Hindostan has failed to perform as per expectations at the box office. Not only has the screen count been reduced to 1800 from 5000 in the second week, but its collections also depict a stark difference in between two weeks since its release on Diwali.

In its first week, Thugs Of Hindostan collected Rs 134.95 crore while it earned Rs 5.40 crore in its second weekend. The difference is quite visible as the film earned Rs 119 crore in its four-day extended opening weekend as opposed to the numbers observed in its second weekend. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Thugs Of Hindostan released in Tamil and Telugu apart from Hindi as trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the total collections of the film – all versions – are Rs 145.95 crore.

Thugs Of Hindostan is reported to be Bollywood’s most expensive film and co-stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film had opened to mixed reviews.

Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho, which released on October 18 has been earning well since the first day of its release and has earned Rs 125.80 crore so far. Taran tweeted the latest figures, stating that the film is in no mood to slow down.
